“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” -Albert Einstein

Sometimes the information we are searching for in life can be right under our noses. It just takes looking at it from a different perspective.

Recently Archaeologists excavated around the giant heads at Easter Island and found they have full bodies!

Not only that the bodies are covered in ancient indecipherable petroglyphs.

Easter Island is a remote island located over 2,000 miles off the coast of Chile.

The statues are called Moai and were carved by the Rapu Nai people sometime between 1250 and 1500 CE.

According to Wikipedia, the tallest of the 887 Moai is over 30 feet tall and weighs 82 tons. Although no one quite knows how they did it many of these enormous statues were moved to various places around the island.

The faces represent ancestors that are seen as deities.

Night At The Museum

I’ve know about these head statues my whole adult life.

I love the Dum Dum Gum Gum scene from the movie “Night at the Museum”

Never Even Considered…

And as long as I’ve known about their existence I’ve never once thought about the possibility of bodies buried beneath the heads!

It turns out the most other people never questioned it either. It took an archeologist to dig around and make the discovery.
So, I thought this discovery was a great example of a metaphor for life.

Are The Answers Under Your Nose?

How many times is there information right under our nose, but we are so used to seeing things a certain way that we just don’t quiet ourselves long enough to allow a new perspective to come in?

The information we are loping for could be answers to problems, solutions or a direction in life.

Too Accustomed…

We become so accustomed to seeing the world through our filtered perception, we don’t bother to question whether or not it could be different until we are sometimes forced to make a change through a personal crisis.

So often we get upset or wonder about something and we become fixated on the problem or the question.

We think we need to make drastic changes or reinvent the wheel when the answer could be right there.

We can’t seem to see our way out when all we need to do is get quiet and unearth it.

Hindering Your Ability to Solve A Problem

Have you ever lost your car keys?

This happened to me recently and I was panicked because I thought I would be late for an appointment. I was rushing around looking in my gym bag and car over and over again.  The more I panicked the less effective I was at looking. It wasn’t until I took a few minutes to calm down and quiet my mind that I was able to allow myself to retrace my steps and find them.

If we allow fear to paralyze us it can lead to frustration and anger. These negative emotions contribute to a lack of ability to see the obvious.

All we need to do is look around and things become crystal clear.

Maybe your searching for a direction to take in life.

Or you’re wondering if your accomplishing your meaningful purpose in life.

The answer lurks just beneath the surface of your conscious awareness and can be discovered in a few minutes. No one knew that there could be the possibility of the statues having full bodies until someone had an idea that they might be there and started digging.

Meditation

Try some meditation practice every day. Give yourself 5 -10 minutes to get quiet and allow answers to come in.

And then write down what comes to mind.

We don’t always have to make huge changes. We can add onto what we’ve been doing or tweak something to get the results we want. It’s just discovering what’s right under our noses. The lightswitch could be on the floor.

I can’t wait to see what the petroglyphs say.

I’ve just added this amazing place to my bucket list of places to see.
