Are you struggle to decide what to tweet next to help promote your business?

Let’s face it… the 140 character limitation is a challenge.  That means you have to make every word count.

Twitter is a great way to help build a consulting business using the internet. It’s one of the best social media platforms if you are trying to reach a national or worldwide audience. I used it a lot early on to get some of my first consulting clients.

What makes it more attractive is that users on Twitter are more active than many other social media platform… and there are even a lot more Twitter benefits.

That’s why today I want to talk to you today about some actionable Twitter business tips you can start using to promote your consulting business.

Start Using These Fundamental Twitter Business Tips

Whether you are just a newbie on Twitter for your business or you are just wondering how to improve your tweets, you can start using these fundamental Twitter business tips to start building your consulting business:

1. Tweet Without Sharing Links

Ok, so this first item is a bit misleading at first… but I wanted to grab your attention.

If you are interested to share links on your tweets, it’s ok to do it. You just have to make sure that when you share a link it’s something worth reading (sadly most people just tweet crap…. sad but true).

When you own a business, you know that building your customer’s trust should be your highest priority. And that continues with Twitter.  People follow you on Twitter because they trust you and your brand, so you should keep their trust. Be mindful of the links that you share. Make sure that the topics of the links are related to the interests of your followers.

If you find something interesting on a certain blog that is not related to your business, just tweet that interesting idea or concept and don’t include the link . This way you won’t lead your followers to something that they wouldn’t want to read. The worst thing that you won’t want to happen is for your followers to unfollow you.

The key then is this: since you are rarely tweeting a link… when you do finally tweet a link your followers will more likely take their time reading what’s on the other end of that link because they know that you only share blogs which are worth reading.

2. Include Hashtags That Are Related To Your Tweet

Even if you are new on Twitter you probably know what is a hashtag and how it is used on this platform. Including a hashtag on your tweets will help those tweets to be seen by followers who are reading tweets under a certain hashtag.

Think of it this way: hashtags are like keywords in SEO… they are how people searching on Twitter will find you.

To help you in coming up with the proper hashtags for your tweets, you can use Hashtagify and RiteTag.  Hashtagify is a website that you can use to find a hashtag that you would like to include on your tweet. After you typed in a hashtag, the results will give you the most popular related hashtags.

When you are done choosing the most popular hashtags for your tweet, use RiteTag to check how relevant they are.  RiteTag has a color-coded rating that will determine the relevance of the hashtags. Green is good, blue is cool and red is overused.

The combination of these two tools in finding the proper hashtags for your tweets is surely an effective way for your tweets to be seen and reached by more Twitter users. You can depend on these tools in coming up with hashtags for your next tweets.

3. Use Catchy Images In Tweets

Tweets are more appealing to Twitter users when it has an image in them. Obviously, such kind of tweets will get more engagements compared to tweets that have no images because they grab more attention.

If you have no idea where to get images for your tweets then try Twitshot.  It is an online tool that you can use in looking for images to include when you share links on your tweets. Twitshot will give you all the possible images that will be a good match for the link that you give.

Now that you know that tweets with images on it are more appealing to Twitter users, be consistent in doing this when you tweet with a link. This will help you to gain more engagement from your followers.

4. Tweet When Most Of Your Followers Are Online

If your followers are not online whenever you tweet then you won’t receive any engagement from them. This is why you should find out what times your followers tend to be logged into online.

To do this you should first determine where the largest percentage of your followers lives (geographically) by going to your Twitter analytics.

Once you know where most of your followers reside, use Tweriod to determine the best times to tweet for your followers. Tweriod will give you results about when your tweets get the most exposure and when most of your followers are online.

Even if you tweet every minute your tweets will not be effective if your followers are not online. The key is you should tweet when most of your followers are online.

5. Create Twitter Lists Where You Can Retweet Valuable Information

To keep your followers interested in what you share, it’s helpful if you re-tweet from people you trust; people who share useful information. This is why you should create Twitter lists for different niches.

Before considering an account on your list, ask yourself about the topics which will interest your followers. Look for accounts who share valuable information that is in line with the interests of your followers. Then add these accounts to your Twitter list.
