Looking to learn about how to market on LinkedIn effectively?
LinkedIn is more than just a social media platform that can help you find jobs or reconnect with your old coworkers or employers. It can also help you promote your business products and services.
You can use it to build authority, establish thought leadership, and develop your connections with other businesses on this platform. That’s why it’s becoming one of the best places to market your business.
That’s why today I’ll talk about how to market on LinkedIn, and get results for your business.
How to Market on LinkedIn
Today, most of us use social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. These platforms can help you follow the activities of your friends or families.
But if you’re a businessman who’s looking for people who might be interested in your business, then LinkedIn is a platform you need to start using today.
To help you market your business on this platform, let’s take a look at some simple but effective ways on how to market on LinkedIn.
Create Your Own Account
The first thing to do is to sign up and create a LinkedIn account.
Signing up on LinkedIn is similar to other social networking websites. You just need a valid email address or phone number to verify your account.
After creating your profile, think of how your business can help other members of LinkedIn.
When making or updated your personal profile, don’t forget to include your new aptitudes, accomplishments, and cases of your outstanding work. This will increase your chance of being noticed by your target audience.
NOTE: You should also create a LinkedIn company page. Use this to build its reputation and credibility because it’ll represent your company’s image. Make sure to make it relevant to attract your target audience to follow your page.
When you’re done making a company page, the next thing you need to do is think of your marketing goals.
Think of Your Marketing Goals
Every guide on how to market on LinkedIn will tell you to create your marketing goals. It’s important to outline your goals because it’ll be the basis of your marketing plan. Your marketing plan should address your short-term and long-term business goals.
It’ll be easier for you to market your business if you have a goal in mind.
Your marketing goals will help you choose between proactive LinkedIn marketing and passive LinkedIn marketing. Aside from that, your marketing goals will help you determine your target audience.
But regardless of your marketing approach, you also need to optimize your page so it’ll increase your chance of reaching your audience.
Optimizing Page for Your Target Audience
Page optimization will increase your visibility on the internet. Businesses with an online presence do this to increase brand awareness and their reach.
Take a look at these different methods to make it easy for your target audience to find both your personal and your company page.
Use Search Engine Optimization
The search engine optimization (or SEO) is the most common way of increasing a content or a website’s visibility on the internet. If you use SEO on your company page, it’ll increase its visibility to your target audience.
Consider doing the following to your personal and company page.
- Use keywords − Using keywords is the easiest way to increase your visibility on the internet.
- Link your website − Linking the company’s LinkedIn page with your company website is crucial as it will help in increasing your search ranking.
- Provide content − Sharing relevant content with hashtags will also help in improving your ranking on search results.
Be Specific in Targeting Audience
Aside from the SEO methods, targeting can also help you reach your preferred audiences. Having specific target audience sets you up to make decisions dictated by the ideal customer. Identifying your preferred target market won’t only increase your sales, it’ll also benefit you and your customers.
Increase Your Number of Followers
If you’re marketing on LinkedIn, you should also increase the number of your followers. Having a large number of followers will increase your chance of getting more views. The easiest way to do this is by asking your friends, colleagues, or employees to promote your page.
Encourage them to share the content on their page so that it’ll reach more people. Just make sure that you add a ‘Follow’ button on your website (and blog content). That way your visitors will just have to click on that to get new updates.
Provide High-Quality Content
Providing high-quality content is one of the most important aspects when learning how to market on LinkedIn effectively.
Just like in other social networking platforms, you need to constantly provide content your LinkedIn audience wants and needs. By doing this, your page will be relevant and not be forgotten. It will also help increase engagement.
Your content should be related to your business, products, or services as it can help you earn the trust of your audience.
If your business currently has a small number of following or existing customers, try LinkedIn advertising. Paid advertising on LinkedIn is still a relative bargain, and can get your business in front of your market quickly.
Be Active in Your Niche
If you’re marketing your business on LinkedIn or other social media platforms, you need to be active in your niche. Being active in your niche or community will open a lot of opportunities for your business.
To give you an idea of how to be active, here are some things to do when you’re online. Doing the following can help you reach more audiences, influencers, and potential customers or clients.
Post Regular Status Updates
Like what I’ve said earlier, you need to constantly post content. You need to make your presence felt.
To do that, consider talking about what you’re working on or who you’re working for. Post anything that’s relevant but make sure that it’s engaging.
Participate in Relevant Groups
Participating in relevant groups is another way to be active in your niche. Join groups related to your business and your interests. Participating in discussions can help in establishing yourself as an expert in your field.
When you’re joining groups and participating in conversations, make sure to avoid spamming your audience. Don’t always talk about your business. Instead, answer questions to earn your audience’ trust.
Final Thoughts on How to Market on LinkedIn
In this blog post, I talked about how to market on LinkedIn. Marketing on LinkedIn is almost the same on other social networking platforms. However, remember that your audience is different because LinkedIn is a platform for business-minded people looking for business relevant content.
Start marketing on LinkedIn by signing up on a new account. Create a company page and start outlining your marketing goals. Thinking of your goals before making a marketing plan is important because it’ll help you determine your target audience.
When you’re done with your marketing plan, make sure to use SEO on your page and target specific audiences. Also, remember to provide high-quality content with hashtags, and don’t forget to be active in your niche.
