“3 Steps to Setting up a Facebook Business Page” written by Mike Marko.
Thinking of introducing your business to the online world?
When you envision success for your business, you need to think big. That means you have to take advantage of all the probable outlets to promote it. That includes venturing to various social media platforms, such as Facebook.
One may think that having a website means you can disregard marketing on Facebook. However, being present on this platform can in fact help you get blog traffic and leads, as well as build a long term audience.
Keep in mind most people spend their spare time scrolling on their Facebook feeds. Therefore it’s an advantage for business owners to catch their attention and turn them into paying customers.
With that being said, we shall present to you a quick guide for setting up a Facebook business page.
A Beginner’s Guide to Setting up a Facebook Business Page
Business owners nowadays turn to social media to increase their influence and client reach. One of the more frequently used platforms is Facebook, with an average population of about 829 million active users.
Imagine the possibilities if you can get even just a small percent of those users to notice your business!
Facebook’s business page has a few useful features not available on any other platform. These include:
- Advertising, and
- Post scheduling.
These allow creative and effective online advertisements, thereby leading to increased online presence.
If you are unfamiliar with Facebook and its features, here’s a quick guide on how you can set up a Facebook business page easily.
1. Set up a Facebook account
We wouldn’t get anywhere without signing up for an account first.
If you haven’t yet, now is the time to set up your own Facebook account. Through your personal account, you can run as your own page’s admin and control its flow.
Of course, Facebook business pages can’t be created unless the admin has his/her own personal account on the platform.
2. Create Your Business’ Page
When your account is ready, the next thing to do is to create the business page.
On the Facebook Home page, click “Create Page” on the left-hand side of your screen. You are now just a few steps away from having the Facebook page your business needs!
Choose a Category for your Page
Facebook offers several categories to choose from upon creating the page. Your task is to determine which category your business belongs to.
Here are the following options that you could choose from:
- Local business or place,
- Company, organization, or institution,
- Brand or product,
- Artist, band, or public figure,
- Entertainment, and
- Cause or community.
Enter your Business Information
After you’ve chosen your category, determine the subcategory. For the Local Business or Place category, Facebook will also directly ask for business’ specifics, such as name, address, and contact information.
3. Setup Your Business Page
A business page with complete details has a better chance of increasing online presence and credibility. This helps them appear more trustworthy in the eyes of potential clients.
Here are some of the steps that you should expect to do:
Complete your Profile
To complete page setup, enter some additional information about your business, such as:
- Three categories that are representative of your business.
- Description of your business in under 155 words.
- Business website, which is a clickable link to directly visit your website.
Write down what your customers need to know clearly and concisely. Feel free to exercise your creativity through your writing to attract page viewers and visitors.
Upload your Profile Picture
Of course, a Facebook page won’t be complete without a profile picture.
Make sure that your profile picture represents who you are as a company and what you have to offer. Your profile picture serves as the main visual icon of your page. Because of this, it is only logical to choose the best one you have.
Most customers check your picture before going over your business details. Thus, your picture is a determining factor for building client relationships.
Determine Your Target Audience
This basically answers the question, “Who are my customers, and where will they be coming from?” Fortunately, this question isn’t too hard to answer, as Facebook makes it easy for you to find the right audience for you.
Facebook allows you to target the type of people that it will show your page to, and the targeting involves features such as finding:
- Nearby places within your business place or company,
- Preferred gender(s), and
- Interests in relation to your business.
